Hello,

I am trying to find any trace of James Crawford who was born in about 1829 at Bangor, the son of Patrick Crawford and Eliza Brown. His father's occupation is variously given as weaver, shop keeper, collector and labourer.

His mother's death certificate recorded that he is alive in 1890.

Thanks so much for any insight you can offer.

Regards

Helen Crawford

  • Helen,

There are 3 or 4 James Crawford deaths registered in Newtownards (which includes Bangor) in the period 1890-1921, o men of about the right age. Have you looked at them?

    Here’s 1 for example:

  • Hi Elwyn,

Thanks for the tip on James. I had looked at this death a while back and eliminated it by finding his marriage which in turn indicated his father's name.

There were a few other candidates, but again I eliminated them by looking for their marriage certificates, where possible.

There was one likely candidate who migrated to USA , but I haven't been able to trace him in the USA records.

He had a brother called John (1834) and its the same problem with him. Cannot trace him.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards

    Helen
