I am trying to find information about James Flavelle born 1830 in Cavan, Ireland. He married Frances McDonald 6th December 1851 in Dublin. He married Elizabeth Haughton (30yo) 27th February 1857 in Dublin (He was a widower then but I can't find any death report of Frances. France's father was Matthew McDonald) Elizabeth's father was John Haughton and her mother was Elizabeth Maloney and she was born in County Mayo.
James, Elizabeth and baby Charlotte arrived in Victoria, Australia in 1859. Jame's father was also James and he was a police officer( on Jame's B. 1830 death certificate in 16 September 1885) His mother was Ann .Any information about James, Frances or Elizabeth would be much appreciated as I've hit a brick wall! Thank you - Merrilyn

One of volunteers, Shane Wilson, assisted me with your query. The two civil marriage records are below (which you may already have) and it appears the parties all lived in St. Thomas parish. The marriages were held in the Registry office which according to Shane could mean a mixed marriage or a marriage without family approval or they just wanted to get married quickly.

Civil registration of deaths did not begin until 1864 and we could not locate any church death records. Also did not find a baptismal record for Charlotte.
Shane also found some potential info on the elder James Flavelle on the subscription site FindMyPast.
there is a James Flavel in the RIC records (FMP) service no. 170, born Co. Armagh, served 1824 to 1849 in counties Fermanagh & Cavan

Merrilyn:
Shane located an 1884 death record for a 90 year old Police pensioner named James Flavelle. See second record. He was living in Drumnakelly townland in Seagoe civil parish with a Ann Stewart. Do to the rarity of the name, this record may be the father of the James who went to Australia.

Further to previous posts by Roger McDonnell, an Elizabeth Flavelle was baptised in Aghavea Church of Ireland in 1833. Her father is recorded as James Flavelle. Possible sibling to James Flavelle, Junior.
There is also a record of an Elizabeth Flavelle to Australia in 1859 who is aged 27 years. She may be the wife of James?
