Kilkelly is part of the RC parish of Kilmovee and the civil parish of Kilmovee. The surname Duffy is very. very common in that area. Baptismal records for that parish start in 1854 which is too late for your interest. I was not able to find any Duffy baptismal records for children of Timothy Duffy and Bridget Reid. Also, did not find a marriage record.

The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilmovee civil parish shows two Timothy Duffy records in Derbagh townland and Shammerdoo townland. Possibly one of the two records is for your ancestor.

Hello. Michelle. I also drew blanks with baptisms and marriage. Then I remembered that Timothy was sometimes Thaddeus, Thady, Tadgh or Teighe. 

Thady Duffy married Briget Reed/Reid (letters e and i were similar in register and dot above i may have faded) in Kilmovee parish on 15th (?)  March 1825.  Witnesses Mary Grady and Anne Madden (?).

Thady was down  as Thomas in the transribed Kilmovee registers on EastMayo.org which is now archived on Wayback Machine Internet Archive. The website  has transcriptions of Kilmovee baptism registers until early 20th century and of registers from nearby parishes. It also has an extracted marriages out of parish for Kilmovee for weddings after 1908 when a priest who conducted a wedding was supposed to notify the parish of the person's baptism.

I found 2 Timothy Duffy listings for Shammerdoo and 1 for Derragh  townlands in Griffiths Valuation. The last holding was a small piece of land only, no house or buildings. 

Did Timothy's parents remain in Ireland? 

Oh my gosh you are both amazing! Thank you Maggie May and Roger McDonnell. I will explore these leads. I believe James T. Duffy's parents remained in Ireland. There is no family story for them other than the names and info I provided above. Thank you again!

2 entries for a Patrick Reid in Griffiths' Valuation in Cloonnamna and Magheraboy townlands in Kilmovee parish. There were several Duffy holdings in both townlands.

The first page is specifically related to Kilmovee parish. The second site is run by Kathleen Fry and has many posts related to Kilmovee parish although it does get into other areas. The third site covers all of Co. Mayo

I also have a Duffy connection from Kilmovee parish. My great-grandmother, Mary Duffy (1858-1939), was from the aforementioned Magheraboy townland. She married a farmer from near Ballaghaderreen and stayed in Ireland but most of her children went to Philadelphia.

Michelle, I got mixed up with the wedding dates of Thady Duffy and Thomas Duffy. Thady Duffy and Bridget Reed were married on 9th June (possibly). It was Thomas Duffy who married Ann somebody in March (possibly 15th). In my defence, the months are unclear on some pages. The next month is definitely July.

Duffy is a very common surname in the area. I'd previously noticed 4 Duffy weddings in the same month as my great-grandparents married. February was peak month for weddings, averaging 20 per Feb. in Kilmovee.  There were 3 Duffy marriages out of 23 in Feb. 1827 and 4 out of 23 in Feb. 1828. There were weddings in which both bride and groom were Duffy e.g. Feb. 1830, Thomas & Honor, who were already related, as noted in the margin. The best day for Duffy weddings was 9th Feb. 1844  -  2 bridegrooms were John Duffy and 3 were Thomas Duffy!  A third John Duffy married on 18th Feb. to Margaret Duffy. Duffy accounted for one third of weddings that month.

There were a few Reed marriages in the register. John Jordan married Honor Reed, March 1828, witness Pat Reed. John and Honor were related to the 4th degree of consanguinity (probably 3rd cousins) and 2nd-3rd degree affinity. I've interpreted the additional note in the margin as them not having paid the fee by the time the accounts were done on 1st June.

Kilkelly is in Swinford Superintendent Registrar's District.   BMDs in Kilkelly area were registered at Kilkelly.

By the law of averages I'm likely to be connected to a Duffy of Kilmovee too. They made up a quarter of the households in my GF's townland on 1901 census and the Duffy surname appeared 17 times among 83 entries on Griffiths' Valuation. 3 members of my GGM's extended family appear to have had Duffy wives.

My Duffy grt grandparents gave different ages and places in uk census They moved over to Hull Yorkshire 1852 but not in census till 1861 but Margaret Duffy b 1836 ish married Walter Lowery in Hull Yorkshire 1852 And thing all family arrived together
John would be head b 1801 his wife Harriet no surname b 1806 Possibly Tomboholla or Aghamore area only few miles fm Kilmovee Also pre charlestown Knock & swineford comes up too Such a minefield

There eldest daughter Mary Duffy b 1833 stayed in Ireland so prob married.
