Looking for any information on where my ancestors came from in Ireland and their parents, siblings, etc.  Thank you so much for any help.  This is a major brick wall in my tree.

James Thomas McLaughlin is my 2nd great grandfather.  Born about March  1865 in Ireland.  Died about 1903 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.  According to the 1900 Illinois United States Census he arrived to America in 1870 at about the age of 5.  About 1880 he married Bridget Granahan also from Ireland (my 2nd great grandmother).

Bridget Granahan Born about August 1860 in Ireland.  Died about 1901 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA (not sure of her death date).  According to the 1900 Illinois United States Census she arrived to America about 1873 at about the age of 13.

Thier children that I know of:

Hugh Thomas McLaughlin (my great grandfather).  Born 28 Nov 1884 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.  Died 1 Sep 1953 in Chicago, Cook, County, Illinois, USA.  Married Helen Santry.  Born 4 Sep 1890 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.  Died 27 Nov 1970 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.

Edward McLaughlin (my great grand uncle).  Born 16 Jul 1895 in Donegal, Ireland According to the United States WWI Draft Registration Card and his wife is listed as Mary.  Died 8 Oct 1918 in Chciago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.

  • Karen,

Think I found the passport application from James Thomas McLaughlin born 27 December 1868 Ireland, father John Mclaughlin, he sailed from Belfast in 1881 so I believe James was from Northern Ireland or one of the more Northern Counties in Ireland like Donegal, there is an Edward McLaughlin from Donegal so I reckon that could be it let me check this for you.

According to the pasport appication he was ?

in France and Germany during the war  ?

In Chicago he was a clubhouse Manager ?

Blue eyes, dark hair, fair complexion

Address 375 Harvard Avenue, Chicago ?

Does the above ring a bell? If so if you like email me and I send you on the pasport application

Checked Donegal unfortunately there is more then 1 match when searching with the fathers name John
