Hi All
I have at last found my 2nd ggrandfather - John Brick in Limerick registers. He married Caroline Scanlan in St Mary's RC Church in Limerick on Dec 2nd 1848.I have found Caroline's baptism and birth but cannot find John. I'm sure he would have lived in Limerick or close by, can anyone suggest where I might find his birth an parents please?

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Roots Ireland has four John Brick baptismal records in years which make sense with an 1848 marriage: 1827 1829(2) and 1831. However, the parishes where the baptisms occurred were not close to Limerick city. They were all to the west of Limerick city: Kildimo, Shanagolden, Kildimo and Kilcornan. The father's names on the record were Michael, Denis and John (2). What was the name of the oldest son of John Brick and Catherine?

Hi Roger
John and Caroline's eldest son was called Francis, but that was the name of Caroline's father. Their second son was called Thomas - so that's not really much help either. I'm not surewhere to go from here......

Have you had an autosomal DNA test? Might be a way to identify matches who have more info on the Bricks.

Hi Lyn
There is a Birth record for John Brick son of Patt (Patrick) Brick and Kitty (Catherine / Kate) Egan in St Michael Church, Limerick City on 16th June 1817. (Note record was transcribed as 1816 with mother listed as Kitty Egar). It was during famine times and couples were older when they married or perhaps remarried.

St Marys and St Michaels were neighbouring churches in Limerick.

Many thanks for that Gerard. It is a possibility.
