John Callaghan - b. 1814 moved to Lancashire, England

Have you got his marriage certificate? this may give his place of birth & also look at all the certificates, look at the original transcripts  for the Census, as I have found incoherent scribbles that I was readily able to identify as a place, where the transcriber, most likely not being Irish has ignored & look at his neighbours & workmates, if they have similar names they could be family & have named a place in Ireland.

Do you know where he is buried, as sometimes families will put the townland or county on the headstone.

Once family went to USA, they often took out other family members from Ireland, have you any stories like that, if you track those people, this may assist you in finding the 'PLACE'

The Name Callaghan comes mainly from Cork/Clare/Limerick counties, but I live in Co Cavan a good distance away from Cork & we have a small O'Callaghan Tree that we can trace back to mid 1800's, some of this family went to Stockport in Cheshire .

I would love that you were part of our family, but I think more digging is needed before I can claim you.

Thank you so much for your reply! I am seeking John Callaghan's marriage information. I'm searching records in the Catholic Church in Liverpool now. We'll see what that yields.
