Hi there. We just learned months ago that one of my gggrand parents had a son while fighting on the US Civil War (gunboat Ottawa) or, after returning wounded while volunteering on the NY 192 Brigade.
There's a comment in a form where John Stephen Dillon (b 1844) indicates having had a son, named John Dillon (b 1865) and that his mother, Belle Evans would had died maybe in Washington or Louisville, KY, but unsure. He stated in the US a few more years but then, not finding his son, returned to Dublin where he remarried to Kate Murphy in Booterstown in 1881 (found church record)

It kills me that John Dillon, born in 1865, had lost his mom while maybe being a pre teen? And then his dad not being able to find him and leaving the US.
Imagine that kid growing, having a kid of his own, and having very little fam info.
Not well versed into looking for us census... So far haven't found Belle Evans (dead mom) either, as I don't even know in which State J. Dillon was born in (WA? NY? KY?)

Any input would be highly appreciated.
