    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched two data bases which have Co. Cork church records: Roots Ireland and www.irishgenealogy.ie and the only record I located was an 1816 record in Co. Limerick which I discounted based on the 1832 year of birth in your message. I also searched for a William Bourke and Mathias Bourke with the names of the parents listed and did not find any records. Possibly your Bourke ancestors were baptized in a church which no longer has records back to the early part of the 19th century.

Let me know if you have additional information.

You can also post Julia's story to our XO Chronicles site and maybe someone will see a connection  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

Also, have you considered autosomal DNA testing?

  • Mr McDonnell.  Thank you so much for your rapid response.

Juletta, or Julietta or Etta was supposed to have been born in co Cork near Dublin.   It is possible the family was Catholic, as they were here in the states.

Her father, William, was born in Co Clare, I think, and her Johanna Joyce in Ireland somewhere. I could never narrow that down.

Either the family traveled a lot or my records are severely messed up.

    William  1817 -1905  County Clare

    Mathias1818-1904  Co Tipperary

    Edward 1819  in Ireland somewhere

    Timothy J 1839  same

    Michael 1836  same

    Johanna unk  same.

I don't know if that helps any.

I have had DNA testing with FamilyTreeDNA and Ancestry.com   Lots of matches but not many on my mother's side which would help me with this.

Thanks again for all your help!

You mentioned  "Juletta, or Julietta or Etta was supposed to have been born in co Cork near Dublin." Cork and Dublin are many miles apart. I did a search in Dublin city but could not find a Julia Burke with father William and mother Julia Ryan.

I think at this point I would focus on your DNA matches. New matches are added every week so maybe you will find someone with Burke/Bourke connections.
