Michael Henry Kearney was born in 1869 to Thomas Kearney ad Bridget O'Donnell in Clifden. I am interested in other related data to Michael Henry Kearney who immigrated to Canada in 1882. Are there other siblings and their related data. I would also be interested in the birth dates of the parents and the date of marriage and deaths.

Also where would these immigrants to Canada leave from - Ireland or England ?

Thank you.

    Hello Ann,

As you have a birth date and both parents names for Michael Henry Kearney (1869), Civil records would be a great place to start.  Civil registration records are available from the General Register Office (GRO). These start from 1864. You can access the website here: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm

Additionally church records could yield up more information, especially if Thomas and Bridget O’Donnell’s wedding is pre –civil registration. Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ‘browse’ an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance

The 1901 and 1911 census records could provide information as to other family members who stayed in the area. You can find this here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

As regards where immigrants might have departed for Canada there is no one specific place, hopefully you will find this link helpful  http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/Canadian-immigration-records.html

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

    Kind regards Michael.
