I am looking to find where my grandmother, Julia Kiely, is buried. Her details are as follows:

Julia Kiely, Civil record shows born 09/June/1876 in Fenor, district of Tramore, and baptism record shows 30/May/1876 in Dunhill parish.

Julia's parents were Thomas Kiely and Catherine Flahavan/Flavin.

Julia married Edmond Walsh, of Carrickavantry, Tramore, in Fenor, Tramore on 20/Aug/1908.

Julia had four sisters (Mary, Catherine, Bridget and Ellen) and five brothers (Maurice, Michael, John, Thomas and Patrick).

I cannot find any record of the Kiely burial plot in Fenor, I know her brother, Patrick, was buring in Fenor graveyard but again I cannot find any record of it. I have no record of where my grandfather, Edmond, was buried. He lived with my grandmother in Doneraile Place off the Priests Road in Tramore. Their nearest graveyard is at Holy Cross church but I cannot find are record of either of their burials there.

I would appreciate any assistance you can give.

Since my original post, I have located the obituary notices of my grandmother, Julia Kiely, my grandfather Edmond Walsh and my grandmother's brother Patrick Kiely and all indicate that the burials took place at Fenor. Who can I contact to get the graveyard records for Fenor?

  • Hello Dermot

    Here's a link to the Fenor gravestone transcriptions:

    http://dunhillandfenorparish.ie/category/parish-churches/parish-graveya…;

    It includes a gravestone of a Patrick Kiely of Carrickavantry but a little research showed that he was the son of a Michael Kiely and so not a brother of your grandmother Julie who you state was the daughter of Thomas Kiely

    Here's a link to the IGP website which includes transcriptions of many graveyards in Co. Waterford

  • Tony, thanks for that.

    I recently met some new Kiely cousins. They informed me that the Kiely grave in located in Fenor behind the church. I looked up the Dunhill and Fenor Parish website and found the plots on the map of the graveyard. They are plots 199b and 207.

    Where could I get information on who is buried in each plot? Is there a register of burials for each plot aand if so, where can I get access to view it?

    Regards, Dermot.
