This is a wonderful idea! I live in Illinois but some of my ancestors came from Kilmacduagh parish. Tracing them back before Griffith's has been slow going. It would be great to have a local contact.

  • Hello,

When at the Galway Archives at Island House last spring (2014), we found an inscription from a gravestone in Kilmacduagh parish that states:

Erected by Michael Loughry in memory of his Wife Catherine Loughry who departed this life February 23, 1861, aged 52 years for him & posterity. (if her death was 1861 that means she was born about 1809.)

I was wondering if anyone knows how or where these 2 Loughry's fit into the Loughry family line of Loughry's or Loughrey's. If so, what do you know about them.

    Any comments or help appreciated.
    Mary
