My great grandfather Timothy F. Halvey, was born in Kinturla (I think), Kinvara, Galway, Ireland, August 15, 1850 , emigrated to New York in 1866, naturalized in New York in 1871. I found his brother John in the Catholic Parish Registers for Kinvara 1844-1853.but not Timothy. On Timothy's death certificate, John Halvey and Catherine Hynes are listed as his parents, both born in Ireland. I found their marriage record in Kinvara, Galway, Ireland on January 30,1850 also in the Catholic parish registers for Kinvara, Galway, Ireland 1844-1850. John Halvey was born around 1805 and died April 22, 1889. Catherine Hynes was born July 15, 1814 and died November 16,1896. I found about 7 Griffith's Valuation citations for John Halvey with different townlands. Was there only 1 John Halvey with seven leases or were there 7 John Halveys with 1 lease each???
That is all I know about my Halvey family in Ireland. I haven't gotten anywhere with the Irish censuses. I would appreciate any help finding more information.
Thanks in advance,
Meg Halvey GIngell
