There are burial records on roots but there are some for Laurence up to 1801 & then none til 1837 on; some Laois but no Kildare. The age isn't given on some so hard to tel!!

Wow!  You’ve been busy too. I wasn’t able to access roots but I have a subscription so I’ll check it out. If this is my Laurence,  your info is invaluable. I have seen the baptism record for Laurence listing Thomas and Jane as his parents, but it doesn’t prove beyond a doubt that he is my guy.  If I come to Kildare where would you recommend that I look. I’m thinking cemeteries. 

Lynda are you able to infer anything from father and siblings' first names from the irish naming pattern and the names of Laurence's children?

Did he happen to name his first son Thomas and second daughter Jane third son Laurence and fourth James?

Have you considered dna testing which MIGHT connect you to this Laurence?

I'm no Kildare expert so not sure what to suggest; I googled Athy cemeteries and got this lot:

Erected By Michael Lawler Of Churchtown In Memory Of His Father William Lawler Who Depd This Life 20th July 1877 Aged 58 Years. Also His Brother Barbara Lawler Who Departed This Life 5th May 1818 Aged 55 Years With Four Of His Children. The Above Michael Lawler Who Depd This Life 26 Sept 1849 Aged 56 Years.

Hi Col,  the sibling names for Laurence Lawler are not common in our family. Laurence’s children were in order Daniel, John, Patrick, Margaret, Mary, Ann, James, and Elizabeth. They all repeat over generations. I’m not sure this Laurence is our guy. I found another  I found another baptism on roots for Laurence Lawler born 1894 in Castledermot. There were no other records that I could fine. His parents were James and Catherine Murphy. We have many James in the family. Do you think you could check this guy out?  Another question:  would it have been typical for the wife and children to live with her family while he was deployed. His last child, Elizabeth was born in Portarlington, Laois in 1828. She died in infancy. Maybe he died in Laois. I did find one Burial record for a Lawrence Lawler that matches our guy in Wexford. I know Wexford’s not too far from Kildare but there’s not enough info to confirm. I really appreciate all the sleuthing you are doing from me. Thank you.  Lynda
