I sent you a response earlier and basically indicated that I did not find a Catherine Looby baptismal record in the two RC parishes in Athlone (St. Peters in Roscommon and St. Marys in Westmeath.). I also pointed out that both parishes have gaps in baptismal records. St. Peters from February 1841 to February 1845. St. Marys from 1827-1839 and I speculated that possibly Catherine was born pre 1839 rather than 1843. See links to parish registers below. Are you aware of other siblings to Catherine?

Thank you Roger we appreciate your help. We have ordered a death certificate as there maybe some information on that we are not aware of. We also may have some contacts through Ancestry we have to follow through on. It is all a bit of a mystery and maybe we will get lucky.

Hi There Roger

The death certificate for Catherine (Kate) Looby had her Parents as Thomas Looby and  Ellen Clunnen.. I can't find them on Ancestry as i have little information. Kate married John Shaw in Auckland NZ  25th March 1867 so she would have been about 25/26 if she was born in 1841. On her death certificate in 1898 her age is 57.

I checked on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find any baptismal record for children of Thomas Looby and Ellen Clunnen or Cloonan.
