Hello I am Mary Tobin from Melbourne. I will be visiting Ireland from September 28 to October 2 2019 and hope to find the graves of some of my family at Johnswell cemetery. John Tobin married Bridget Purcell at Johnswell in 1849 and they moved to Australia in 1850. John Tobin was the son of William Tobin botn in 1790 who married Margaret Tyrell born in 1810. William and Margaret are buried at Johnswell Cemetery.
I'm not sure how to get started. It would be wonderful if there were any living relatives still in the area!!
Thanks in anticipation.
Mary

Hi Jane:)
A cousin of mine did an Ancestry DNA test and was told that her Tobin kin came from Kilkenny.
Not exactly sure what a DNA test with Ancestry actually tells you. Tobins are found mostly in southern Ireland.
My brick wall is a Michael Tobin born ca 1836? in Ireland who migrated to US, and lived in NY City area.
He had at least one child James Buchanan Tobin born in NY City? ca 1862.
There's also some connection to Ryans since a Mary Ryan purchased their cemetery plot at St Mary's cemetery in
Flushing, NY( Queens)
What Parishes are in Kilkenny? Any suggestions /help would be much appreciated:)
