Hi,

I am looking for birth/baptism for a Christopher Oglesby/Ogleby born c.1928 family possibly living in Beresford Street.

He married a Mary Anne Halpin/Halfpenny. I have posted on the St Mary's Pro Cathedral board also as all known children were christened there but the marriage may have been at St Michans. If so it would have been in 1849.

Any help much appreciated.

  • Hi Rose

Can you confirm the dates please?  Did you mean Christopher Oglesby born 1828? Also, why do you think Christopher and Mary Ann married in 1849?  There are 4 baptisms listed on ChurchRecords.IrishGenealogy.ie that are for the children of Christopher and Marianne Oglesby.  The youngest one is 1869 so if this was the first child the parents are most likely married within 2 years of this date.

I will do some more searching for you but if you can confirm the dates that would help.

    Thanks

    Linda

  • Hello again

Found another baptism on ChurchRecords.IrishGenealogy.ie -  Joannes Joseph Oglesby born 1863.

Moves the possible date of marriage again.

  • Hi Linda,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.Joannes Joseph Oglesby born 1963 is the first child I have for Christopher. Trying to get anything earlier has been difficult.I have 6 children born between 1863 and 1874 and their descendants and his burial record from Glasnevin but his birth and marriage are proving the problem. A Mary Anne Halpin was also burried in his grave suggesting it could be his wife as he was a Dealer and she is listed as Dealer's wife. I find ages tend not to be accurate either. His death certificate from 1899 gives his age as 60 yet he should be 71 and Mary Anne as 73 in 1923.

I have found matching records on record from rootsireland.ie

Christopher Ogleby 1849 Church Marriage Co.Dublin

Mary Anne Halfpenny 1849 Church Marriage Co. Dublin

This is the record I am hopeful for. If all else fails I will have yo buy credits to view.them.

I have also posted on St Michans board as the prison records online suggest he was born in Beresford Street c.1828.

  • I have been reminded that my original post had an incorrect birth date.

I believe Christopher was born c.1828/9 according to his prison records.
