Good evening,
I am trying to find the family home of my late mother. Unfortunately, I have very few details and these are below.
Name - Alice Teresa Murphy who later became Lane on marriage.
Date of Birth - 8 March 1926
Place of Birth- Graigue
Date of Marriage - 30 July 1955 to Coleman Lane
Date of Death - 7 December 1989
Her parents were John and Ellen Murphy (formerly Ellen Dempsey).
She had two sisters -
Anastasia (Ann) Murphy who later became Hemming on marriage - now deceased
Brigit Murphy
Brigit had, I believe, a son and daughter, the latter whom became a nurse. Brigit lived on and owned (leased?) a small farm near Windgap.
Both my mother and sister Ann moved to the UK in the 1950's.
My wife and I hope to visit the area during the period 19 - 27 September 2024, so if anyone has any information which will enable me to pinpoint her home I would be most grateful.
Kind regards,
Searcher93

Hi,
To assist other volunteers. I believe Graigue is in Kilkenny.
John Murphy and Ellen Dempsey were married 23 June 1920 in Currahill, Dunnamaggin, Kilkenney. RootsIreland (paid subscription)
Per Ancestry, John and Ellen were married in the Callan district. Per Irishgenealogy (free site), their daughters Anastatia (1923) and Brigid (1921) were also born in the Callan district.

Searcher93,
I attach copies of Form B1 for Graigue Upper and Graigue Lower Townlands - 1901 and 1911 Irish Census. It show that there were a number of families named "Murphy" resident in those townlands.
You can access the census record at www.nationalarchives.ie/census
It may help in identifying your branch.
Regards,
McCoy
