Recently I discovered that my ancestors (surname: Tevlin) lived in the Finnea area. (I believe that's the Foyran parish if I'm not mistaken.) They all came over to America between 1848-1850 during the potato famine. My great x4 grandmother (Margaret Tevlin) passed away in Ireland on August 2, 1853. I know this because one of her sons has a little memorial tombstone for a couple of his family members in the state of Indiana here in the USA. My great x4 grandfather (Michael Tevlin) moved here after she passed.

What I don't know is where she's buried. I was hoping to figure that out and that would lead me to finding baptismal records through the church she is buried at for her kids, and maybe be able to extend my family tree beyond Michael and Margaret. Online searches through ancestry.com and the like have yielded nothing for this.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

  • Thanks for the links but unfortunately I've already checked out every one of those sites but one that you listed before sending my original post here. (I didn't think about mentioning every site I've tried finding the information, sorry about that.)  I think I've pretty much exhausted all online searches, which is why I came here hoping someone who lived there had more information.

Yes, there are Tevlins listed on those sites, but those are not my direct lineage and not the person I'm trying to look for. Until I can trace back beyond my great x4 grandparents, I have no clue where these other Tevlins fit into my tree.

Also that nationalarchives one you listed doesn't have information going back that far, it seems everything on there is for the 1900s and not 1800s.

    Thanks again!
