Hello: My great grandfather was James Dominic Connelly, born around 1840. Not sure where, but I was told that there are many Connelly's in Galway. I believe his father's name was Thomas Z. Connelly. He may have been married to a Mary Clare or Clara Larney or Learney.
I believe the family were all in the printing/bookbinding/ruling trade. I believe they were Catholic (big surprise). James eventually moved to Sheffield, England then Liverpool (where my grandfather was born). Then immigrated to America.
Any known relatives in Galway? Any information about the above would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Robert Charles Connelly, younger brother of James Dominic, was born in Dublin on the date you show. Robert Charles died in Manchester, England in 1887. According to the research my distant cousin shows that the children of Thomas and Clara all moved to England then made their way to the U.S. James Dominic settled in Nebraska. Unfortunately he died in 1879.

I believe it was Thomas that was married to Clara Larney.

From 1845 to 1854, there were three children born to Clara and Thomas in Dublin, not Galway.
Do you have any proof that Thomas was from Galway? Or could the Galway connection be a family story that in the end is not true?

Patricia: I was told to look to Galway as there are many Connelly's there. I looked at Dublin first then was referred to County Kildare to look for Connelly's. That's where I found a Thomas Z. Connelly.
Thank you.

Connelly,
Perhaps you would post the baptismal info for Thomas Z.? It would be helpful to the researchers. Thanks!

In 1824, there was a bookbinder John Connelly in Cashel, Tipperary:

I don't know if this is your bookbinder John, but it could be.

Patricia; Thank you for the information on John Connelly the bookbinder from Cashel. Unfortunately, that name and location never appears in any of my research. However, I'll explore County Tipperary. Thank you again. Kerry
