  • Hi Maggie,

Thank you for this information, you must have spent a long time on this and I am very grateful.

I had some of the information  from the English census but not as detailed as yours, the Irish side was sketchy but you have

made it more interesting. I knew that my dad and his brother visited regularly with my (grandmother who was the daughter of Mary Kelly 1854)

My dad talked about Glasslough a lot and the hughes family but I never followed it up, I wish I had now.

My wife is a Cavan girl, Belturbet, so we get over regularly the last time was pre pandemic to celebrate our Golden Wedding.

Next chance we get we will be visiting Tehallan!!

    Thank's again Maggie

    Kind Regards

    Frank Collier

  • Hi Frank,

Your very welcome, pleased to have been able to help.

By the way there were 7 Hughes families at Glaslough in 1911 maybe one of these may jolt a memory:

We look forward to welcoming you both back home to County Monaghan in the near future.
