I have hit a brick wall in trying to find out any information on my ggg grandfather.
His name was Daniel Lynch and he was a Plasterer. He married Catherine Dowd at All Souls, Langham Place, St Martylebone on 30th October 1833.
The Census entry for 1841/51 gives his place of birth as Cork, Ireland. That is all I know.
Daniel and Catherine went on to have at least six children - one of whom is my g g grandmother, Martha. (They are in order Mary, James, Daniel, Martha, John and Ellen).
I can find nothing at all for Catherine Dowd (all I have is their wedding details). She does not come up on any records at all.
I will send for Daniel and Catherine's marriage certificate.
Any help or advice from anyone would be much appreciated.

Do you know the names of Daniel's parents? If you do, perhaps you can do a search in the Tithe Applotment Books. This is a land survey that was carried out in Ireland between 1823 and 1838. Although it does not offer any genealogical information, it may help you find a more specific place of origin (providing multiple results are not returned). If his parents remained in Ireland, you could also search in the later land records called Griffith's Valuation (1848-1864) at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Once you have found the parish name things will open up and you will then be able to search further.
