Joseph Grier was born about 1784 in Northern Ireland or Scotland. He lived in Newtontully in Tullymore townland. He raised his children there and died there in 1869. His father may have been John as he named his first son John and there is a John in the 1796 Flax Growers/Spinners List of Griers in Tully (Donegal). YDNA points to this family possibly being related to the Lords of Lag in Scotland.
Joseph Grier married Prudence McClay about 1825. She was born about 1794 and died in 1883 in Newtontully, wife of a farmer. Her father may be Samuel. Possibly from Letterkenny?
There was a second Joseph Grier living across a small bridge in Drumman townland. He married Jane Monro at Ramelton First Presbyterian Church in 1825. His father was William Grier and he named his first son William. Their relationship is unknown.
I have much more information! I am happy to compare data with anyone else looking at this family.

Hi Susan,
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I will have a look into this query over the next few days, and figers crossed I will find some information that may be of help or of interest to you and the family.
There are a few Tullymore Townlands throughout different Parishes in Co. Donegal, however you would be right in posting it up here in the Parish of Tullyfern and you will be able to see the location of Newtown tully in the Townland of Tullymore here in this map,
Best Regards Seamus Callaghan
