I'm looking for any information for a William King - born around 1800. His wife was called Letitia - born around 1805. They had numerous children together who were born in Ballymote. William died between 1845 and 1855.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Fortunately, the Church of Ireland records for Emlaghfad parish go back to 1762. The only William King baptismal record in the parish was in 1792. See below. Possibly this is the record for your ancestor. I did not find a marriage record so maybe Letitia was from a different parish which does not have records back to the early 19th century. Roots Ireland did have baptismal records for Thomas 1837 Sarah 1838 Antony 1842. Were there other children?

Thank you for your reply.
I have records for all three mentioned children. I can't remember now who sent them me but I think it was someone from the Dublin library. I've never managed to find them online. I will have to look on roots Ireland and consider a subscription. Fingers crossed this is my William King. I'm tempted to think so with his father being called Thomas.
Thank you again. Best wishes. VickyVicky

William and Letitia's other children were Alice/Alicia (my 3 x great grandma), born 1844. Anne and Mary both born around 1840. I assume they was all born in Ballymote the same as the other children. These records couldn't be located.
I visited Sligo in 2018 and went to their library with no success.
I have found a record in both the Tythe and Griffith Valuation in Ballymote. In the Tythe the property is in William's name and in the Griffith Valuation it is in Letitia's name. I assume this changed hands on the death of William.
I have found a record for Letitia in the Ireland, Petty Sessions Court Registers dated 30/07/1855 and she is a widow.
William also had a sister who came to England. Her name was Mary born 1790.
Best wishes. Vicky

William had six siblings. See below. Possibly there are some gaps with the Emlaghfad records around 1840 which would explain not finding the other baptismal records.

Thank you so much for this information. Fingers crossed this is my family. All the new names give me new leads to search... with any luck I be able to confirm it.
My only wish is that my grandmother was still alive as she never knew any information on her father's side. She was also called Letitia. She believed this name had come from her father's sister Letitia. I'd love to be able to tell her it originated from her great grandma.
Many thanks again. Best wishes, Vicky.
