My husbands Gt Gt Grandfather Michael Lucy was born in Kerry in1827 and his fathers name was Cornelius Lucy. This info is from Michael Lucy’s Marriage Certificate dated 3 August 1851 in Whitechapel, London UK when he married Bridget Colbert of Waterford Ireland. Her father was William Colbert, deceased occupation a Farmer and Michael’s father was Cornelius Lucy, Deceased occupation a Smith.
The Kerry information is from the 1861 Census for Bishopsgate when Michael stated Ireland Kerry as place of Birth.
DNA results for the Lucy family that link to my brother in law’s DNA appear to have the surname Sullivan but although I have emailed a lot of these connections via Ancestry I have not had any replies. Perhaps I will have more luck with this site. I feel there must be more Lucy’s out there that connect to Michael Lucy. My brother in law did the DNA test for me as my husband has sadly passed away. Would love to hear from anyone who thinks they may be connected. My husband and I started our journey in 1976. The name change to Lucie was from my husbands Gt Grandand John Charles Lucy, Michael’s Son, he changed to the LUCIE spelling when he got married to a Protestant girl in 1875 in Bishopsgate, London UK. Thank you for reading hope you can help. Pat

Many thanks for your reply Mary. The Cornelius Mary Hyde in Glenflesk was the one my husband and I always linked to and we did go to Ireland and the local Priest drove us to the little church there in the middle of a field. Very special. I was however interested to see the siblings of Cornelius and Margaret Leehane. Our Michael named his first child Margaret and two other children Cornelius and Honora so a little connection there perhaps. I have been going through the DNA results again this morning and the name Sullivan really comes up so so much so that must be a connection too. Thank you again for your prompt reply let’s hope we can find a link somewhere. Regards Pat Lucie
