I'm looking for my ancesters from Ireland and don't know where they came from. My Great Grandfathers name was Patricck Francis MacAulay and I believe his wifes maiden name was Lestrange. They came to Glasgow/Paisley in the late 1800s.
Family talk mentions Inniskillin and Roscommon but nobody knows for sure.
Any ideas or help much appreciated

Hello Diarmid - I have a few MacAulay/McAuley/MacCauley relatives who were from the area of County Cavan and County Fermanagh (where the village of Enniskillen is located). I hav also seen some MacAuleys from County Armagh (I think). I do have a Patrick in my tree. Do you have any other names or dates? I will do some researching for you and get back. I live on Long Island, New York - near JFK Airport. Where do you live? Regards, Mike.

Hi again Diarmid, I have been doing a little research here within Ireland Reaching Out, and see some more MacAuleys. (1) If you do a "SEARCH FOR SURNAME" and type in the name McAULEY, you will see a query for a Bernard Benedict McAuley entered on 16 MAR 2012 at 18:11. - This is the County Antrim branch. Also, (2) if you then do a "SEARCH FOR SURNAME McCAULEY, you will see a query posted 25 OCT 2012. Let me know how you make out. If you send me your e-mail address to my e-mail address, I can send you a few pages of my EXCEL spread-sheet that shows my McAuley relations, for free naturally. My e-mail address is clovermcg@aol.com
BTW - My late mom was born in Blantyre, Glasgow in 1914. Do you know anything about Blantyre? Her dad - Tom Dolan married a Helen/Ellen Girvin, and he came from County Cavan.

Hi, I too am looking for Macaulay's. I have some paperwork that shows they probably are from Fermanagh, specifically Strandarriff. Also Weir from the same area. Strandarriff is a name of a place but I don't have much real info other than some family stories. Names are James, John Macauley and Guy and Sarah Weir MS Rea.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am just beginning the Ireland portion of my research.
Thanks for any help
Jacquie
