Gooday Carol
Shanagolden is my Lysaght ancestral families place of birth & your query about John Madigan/Bridget/O'Shaughnessey caught my attention. There is a Lysaght/Elliott/Shaughnessey link forged in the Illawarra/Wollongong region of New South Wales c.1830 & my preference is to explore any Shanagolden links on my personal email >bscronin@hotmail.com<.
Patrick [6 yrs] Thomas [4 yrs] and Margaret [1 1/2 yrs] Maddagan accompanied John/Bridget aboard 'Lady Kennaway' 1841. John d.11-5-1861 & is buried Tumut Pioneer [Old] Cemetery as is Bridget d.2-4-1902 & there are records of numerous Madigan generations being at Tumut, which is only a few hours drive from my residence in the A..C.T.
Their six children buried at Tunut are :- Catherine [1844-1913]; Mary Agnes [1845-1911]; Bridget [1846-1922]; James Edgar [1849-1937]; Ellen [1852-1935[ and John Aloysuis [1855-1928] Nothing has emerged for me to identify anything else about Patrick/Thoas or Margaret.
My g-grandfather was James Lysaght b. Shangolden 1822 who emigrated to Port Phillip aboard 'Middlesex' 1841 & died Coleriane ,Victoria 1871. Patrick Lysaght b.c.1799 Shanagolden, transported to NSW aboard "Mangles 2 [1822] appears to have been a brother. There wer quite few Shanagolden/Rathkeales transportees abord that ship. Hoping to hear from you
Regards
Brian
