I am trying to track a "widow Maher " who was part of assisted emigration from Uskerty through the landlord Wandesforde in 1847. She and her family of 7 may not have made it to North America but I would love to officially link her to the John Maher family of Uskerty that appear on the Griffith's Valuation lists. I have often wondered about a Michael Maher and Ellen Brennan of Uskerty who appear in the church records, as kin, but so far have been unable to verify. I have searched Ships' manifests available to Canada and am just starting to learn the Canadian and US systems but with only "widow" to go by and no named children, I am at a bit of a loss. My father's family lived in Uskerty until the 1970's so it has been pretty consistent. The family is married into Healy, Brennan, Condren and Banim. I have just sent off my DNA kit through Ancestry so maybe there will be a long shot of luck to find any descendants in North America. Any suggestions glady received!
