Looking for information on a Patrick Thomas Dunn born 1805, died 1846 in Kilkenny. Was married to a Bridget Maher/Meagher born 1809 in Kilkenny. In 1847 after Patrick died Bridget went to the United States with son Henry (possibly P Henry or Henry P). I am looking for any information on Patrick, Bridget such as a marriage and any children born to them. Patrick may have had a brother Peter Dunn who was married to a Veronica Kelly.

Thank you so much......Kathleen D

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a Patrick Dunne/Bridget Meagher marriage in Kilkenny. Also, no Peter Dunne/Veronica Kelly marriage.

I expanded the search to all of Ireland and found a marriage in Longford town in 1843. See below.

I could only find one baptismal record for a child of Patrick and Bridget, a son Patrick in 1847. See below.

No evidence of Peter Dunne and Veronica Kelly in Co. Longford.

Dunne and Meagher are very common surnames so it is very possible that this is a completely different couple.

  • Thank you so much for welcoming me! I hope all is well with you during the midst of this pandemic.

I have another request (and Lord knows there could be more....lol).

I have a P Henry Dunne born January 6, 1837 in Kilkenny. Would you be so kind as to see if you get any hits with this information such as parents, parish, siblings? If we don't have any luck with your subscription site could that possibly mean these records are with the church and not transcribed?

    Thank you so much.......Kathleen

There were 42 Dunne baptismal records in Co. Kilkenny in 1837. No Henrys but four Patricks. However, none of the four Patrick records had a father Patrick.

The RC parishes records if available are on Roots Ireland. There should not be any local records not on Roots. Church of Ireland parish records could be held locally or at the Representative Church Library in Dublin and not on Roots Ireland.
