My Great Great Grandmother, Mary Ellen Murphy was born in Ballintogher, Geashill Parish, County Offaly, around 1827. Her parents were Arthur Murphy (1800- ) and Mary Lee (1800-). Mary Ellen Murphy married Daniel William Dunne (C 1824 Meelaghans or Ballinvally - 1893 Victoria, Australia) on 14 Jun 1846 in the Chapel at Killeigh.

I have a good handle on their Offaly born children, Murty 1847, Mary Anne 1849, Arthur 1849, Ann Eliza 1851 and Mary Ellen 1853 (my Great Grandmother), before the family migrated to Victoria, Australia in 1854.

What I am seeking is:-

1) Death entry for Arthur Murphy (1800-)

2) Death entry for Mary (Lee) Murphy (1800-)

3) Marriage entry for Arthur and Mary

4) Siblings of Daniel William Dunne (C 1824- 1893 Victoria, Australia). I think I have isolated two of them, who are:-

     a) Thomas Dunne b C 1830, who married Sarah Lockins on 19 Sep 1870 Killeigh Chapel

      b) Eliza Dunne b C 1835, who married John Gavin on 12 Apr 1877 Killeigh Chapel

5) Siblings of Mary Ellen Murphy (1827-1913 Victoria, Australia), whose parents are Arthur and Mary (Lee) Murphy (see above)

Any information relevant to any of the abovementioned relatives, would be greatly apprciated.

  • There was another thread about Dunn's in the Geashill area in Offaly just a few weeks ago, with several people (including me) participating.  You may want to check that thread out and see whether any of it might relate to your family:  https://irelandxo.com/ireland/offaly/message-board/parish-locate
