Hi Cookie6144
Welcome to IrelandXO
Possibly a widow, there are a number of marriages in Tuam records with Mary as spouse.
William / Mary Greaney 1821, John / Mary Cloonan 1833, John / Mary Gilmore 1812, John / Mary Slattery 1807 & Patrick / Mary Naughton 1820.
Do you have any additional information to share?

Hello Gerard, my great grandfather Nicholas Hannan and his family lived on Tierboy in 1855 also. They appear as neighbors in Griffiths Valuation as tenants of a Mr. Timothy Hanley. It seems as though they could be related, although I have no knowledge of Mary Hannan in our family. Was it uncommon for a married woman to keep her maiden name. If she is a widow, her married name would have been Hannan as well.I have no information regarding Nicholas' parents, but of course, I would love to find them. Marianne

Hi
There are numerous possibilities. I listed 5 Hannon marriages with spouse named Mary. There are more !
A possibility is Thomas Hannon married Mary Cullinane in 1802. Thomas Hannon married Catherine Mannion 2nd Sept. 1850 and named first Child / Son Thomas Hanen born 6th July 1851.
If the above was the case, Thomas Hannan's widow Mary may have been the person listed in 1855, with possibly another son living with her, essential to have a male to work and pay the rent.
