Good morning- I am happy to have found this site to explore more of my Irish heritage.  I am looking for some additional information on my GG grandmothers line- mostly because I know all her family did not emigrate to the US and I may be able to find some cousins in Ireland.

My GGgrandmother Mary Kelly was born in Granaghan Dillon, Co. Roscommon 25 Dec 1870.  Her parents were Patrick  Kelly and Jane Owens.  I have found her birth and christening records in family search along with those of her brothers and sisters. Bridget (1872), Jane (1873), Margaret (1875), Joseph (1877). I know she also had a brother John, because he was referenced in Mary's obituary as still living in Co. Roscommon at the time of her death in 1962.

I have Mary's  fathers estimated date of birth as 1840 and her mother Janes as 1844.   I have  Patricks father's name as John and Jane's father as Patrick.  I have not been able to find a marriage record for Patrick and Jane, however.  I believe I have found Jane in the 1901 census in Granaghan Dillon  living as a widow with son John, Joseph, Margaret and Kate..  The names are familiar- except Kate and the ages are slightly off.  If this is the correct family that would put Patricks death between 1883 and 1901 but I am not able to find his death record or that of Jane.

I am hoping to find the descendants of John's family (?) and maybe the stories of the previous genearations will unfold from there.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I located the civil marriage record for Patrick and Jane   https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1871/11335/8160204.pdf

I found a transcription of the 1879 baptismal record for John.

Did not find a baptismal record for Kate. Also, did not find a death record for Patrick.

I'm still trying to locate the 1911 census record for the family and Jane's death record

  • I was not able to locate the 1911 census record for the family. I did find a potential lead for a John Kelly death record November 17, 1962. This John Kelly was a bachelor.

  • Where do you think I would be able to find burial info? Maybe he is buried with family? What should be my next step here to fill in the years and be able to verify this is MY John Kelly? And of course, thank you for the time put in for the search!

  • The surname Kelly obviously complicates your search since the name is very common in Co. Roscommon.

We don't have access to much data from 1919 on except for civil marriage and death information that can be located on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  The RC parish for the area is Tarmonbarry https://www.elphindiocese.ie/parishes-ministries/parish-details/?parishID=39  Not sure if they have time to help you during this very difficult period but maybe you can e-mail them to see if they can assist in any way.
