I am trying to find any information on a Mary Brady who married an Eoin/Owen Kiernan and had a son called John. John died 7th August 1962 and was born 1876/9- maybe in Ballynarry or with an association to Ballynarry. I don't know for sure where he was born but Find a Grave indicates that John is buried in Ballymachugh Parish Church Cemetery in Cavan, County Cavan. From the photo his grave seems to be with his son Mannix Kiernan.(died 16 Nov 1994). The reason that I am trying to find this information is that this Mary Brady appears to be the sister or niece of my 2 x great grandfather, James Brady. My 2 x great grandfather died in Demerara, South America in 1915.
Any information at all would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Fiona

According to a transcription on RootsIreland, a Eugene (Latin for Owen) Kiernan and Mary Brady, both of Clough, married in the RC parish of Abbeylara in Co. Longford on 8 March 1859.

Thank you that is amazing ! I will start looking for her again. Are you able to give me any idea where she was baptized and who her parents were? Many thanks. Fiona

Hi Fiona,
I did a search for a Mary Brady born in Longford between 1821 and 1841--and got 44 names. You might narrow them down by using the Irish naming patterns as a guide--the second son was usually named after the maternal grandfather, the second daughter after the maternal grandmother.
You might search Griffiths Valuation and see if there were Bradys/Kiernans in Clough.
Good luck!

My 3X ggrandmother, Margaret Kiernan (b1816, Belturbet Cavan) married John Brady (b1811 County Galway). Both emigrated in 1844 to Australia and my 2x ggrandmother was born on the voyage. There may not be any connection. Good luck with your research.
