Help All,
In the Parish of Bekan under Greenwood is a Mary Lyons on the Valuations of Tenements. You don't see many women listed. Could someone please explain to me some of the possibilities a women is listed ? Could it mean her father had passed with no living sons? Trying to better understand.
Thank you!

She could have been the widow of Mr. Lyons.

Welcome back!
As Patricia mentioned, in almost all situations, a female record was likely a widow. I think the unmarried daughter situation that you describe would have been fairly rare but possible.

Hello Patricia and Roger,
She (Mary Lyons) would of been married at the time of the record. She was married to James Mulkeen . 1 record suggests her mother was Brig Finn and her father Austin Lyons. However no other records exist with that same mother father combo. I'm assume she was the youngest of her family of possibly her mother died, and her father remarried. Austin is also puzzling as I see it change from Agustine to Austin, or then you will see Patrick Austin . I'm determined not to give up but I really am running out of ideas.

On rootsireland, there is the transcription of a baptismal record for Margaret, child of Austin Lyons and Bridget Finn. She was baptized 14 Jan 1833 in the RC parish of Bekan in Co. Mayo.
Witnesses; Mary Lyons, Patrick Kelly. You can see the church record at irishgenealogy.ie.Patricia
