Looking for information about my grandfather Maurice Ahearn. I have some details which may help but the information I would like to know is the names of his parents. He was BORN in 1859 in Piltown Co.Waterford (or possibly nearby Dungarvan). There were a few Maurice Ahearn's in the Parish of Piltown/Clashmore but the surname was always spelled AHEARN as opposed to Ahern/Aherne. MARRIED Brigid/Bridget Barrett 5th February 1891. DIED - 24/01/1931 aged 72. Bridget Barrett was from Rhincrew Cottage, just on the border of Cork and Waterford (near Youghal, Co Cork) I have tried to get his baptismal cert from Waterford Heritage Services but its the wrong one. I think he only had one sister and she may have been Catherine and I have heard of a name Nell or Ellen (possibly a niece). I also know that he was in the American Cavalry and had a pension from same on retirement. I would be grateful if I can get help with this or the details of his baptism as it may show his parents names. Thanks

Cecelia:
I can find a few pices of information but so far I can't determine the name of the mother of Maurcie and Catherine.
The civil marriage record of Maurice Ahearn and Bridget Barrett third record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re… shows his father was Patrick Ahearn and Patrick was alive in 1891.
Here is Patrick Ahearn in the 1901 census living in Pilltown with his widowed daughter Catherin Connors http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Waterford/Kinsalebeg/P…
Catherine Ahearn married James Connors on October 21 1893 in the Aglish RC church
Catherine and Patrick in 1911 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Waterford/Kinsalebeg/P…

Thank you so much Roger, that is great information. If you ever come across the name of Patrick Ahearn's wife (the mother of Richard and Catherine) that would be wonderful.
Also If possible I would love to see the marriage cert of Catherine and James Connors on October 21st 1893.
Much appreciated

I was not able to find the civil marriage record but found a church record on Roots Ireland. Our access to parish registers online stops around 1880.

Roger, re the name of my grandfather (Maurice Ahearn), His father Patrick was actually a farmer from Curradarra, Aglish, Co Waterford which is where Maurice lived when first married and had 7 children. Then they moved to Creggs, Clashmore and had the last three children there. It is not far from Curradarra. Any chance Patrick's wife could be found on any register associated with that area please.
Thanks, CeciliaCecilia

Cecilia:
Still no luck finding a baptismal record for Maurice. As far as I can see, every RC parish in Waterford has records well before 1859 so his record should be available.
