After many years of research and many detours, I now hit the proverbial brick wall. Desparately needs help. Would like to verify information found on Maurice Charles FitzGeoffrey O'Connell b. 1736 d. 1813 X to Ann "Nancy" O'Connell b. 1740 d. 1800 and his possible second marriage abt. 1803 to Elizabeth Ross b. 1775, Chatham Kent, U.K., my grt grt grt Grandmother. Family belief is that he was an old man when he married Elizabeth Ross in 1803. They were only married for 10 years when he died in 1813. Found a grave for a Maurice O'Connell buried at Old Shanakyle Cemetery, Kilrush, Clare b,1736. Elizabeth and their three children Michael b. 3 September 1803, John b. 1811 (My Ancestor) and Elizabeth b. 1813 emigrated to South Africa 1820 on the Amphitrite Settler Ship after her husband's death in Ireland. Found Elizabeth Ross ,my grt grt grt Grandmother's grave here in South Africa .... Inscription on her Headstone reads Relict of Dr Geoffrey O'Connell. Would be so grateful for any relevant information or advice how to go about finding the so needed information to verify whether he could possibly be my elusive Ancestor. Please accept my sincere gratitude for any help. Thank you. Marié Claassen de Vries.
