Thank you. I have traced back to a Hugh Maylia(Maley) born 1798 Co Mayo I am a 6th generation direct ancestor. His wife was Ellen unknown maiden name. Born 1801.
He had 4 sons
Edward b. 1840
Michael b. 1833 wife Catherine b. 1831
John b. 1831
Patrick b. 1829
I know direct descendants through his son Michael but nothing about Hugh's parents or his other 3 sons. I started this a couple of years ago but went down the wrong path of a Hugh that emigrated to the USA. My Hugh's family emigrated to the UK at a later date. Hugh and sons stayed in Co Mayo as far as I'm aware.

I noticed you also posted in Kilcommon Erris parish. The RC baptismal records for that parish do not begin until 1860 so if your ancestors were from that parish then no baptismal records are available. Do you know the maiden name for Michael's wife Catherine?
Roger
I don't know the surname of Catherine. I do know Huge Maylia's grandson Patrick Maylia 1861- 1900 was married to Rose Cain/Keane 1864- 1939. Thanks for the help. I've only just started looking at this again now I have some time on my hands. It's just been sitting here for over a year. I also had a photo of a gravestone for one of these people but need to find it as it may contain more information.
