Greetings from Tucson, Arizona!   just discovered relatives from Cork.  Their names were McAuliffe.  they emigrated to Massachusetts in the mid 1800's.  Would love to learn more about their life there.  any McAuliffe's out there?   Kind regards,  lynn

  • Lots of McAuliffes from North Cork - specifically Newmarket, Scarteen, Meenishall, Gooseberry Hill.  My Mother was McAuliffe from Meenishall.  My husband's Grandmother was McAuliffe from Gooseberry Hill - you would have to provide more information on the family.  There have been McAuliffe Clan Gatherings in Newmarket, County Cork in the past.

  • Hi Kay:  Nice to meet you!  thank you for reaching out!  Here are some details:

    My g. grandmother:  Honora (Hannah) F. McAuliffe  born: May, 1864, Danvers, MA; died: March 11, 1935, Salem, MA; married: Charles A. Goucher on 9/5/1885, Danvers, MA; had eight children, including a set of twins)

    Honora's parents: Private John McAuliffe Born in Cork, 1839;  naturalized US citizen on 9/11/1854; married: 1/19/1857 to Ellen H. Moriarty (who was also born in Ireland in 1839); volunteered to serve in the 9th regiment, Company C, of the Massachusetts Infantry on behalf of the Union during the Civil War from 1861-1863.  Died in an "accident" on 2/12/1871 in Danvers, MA.   

    John's parents: Lawrence McAuliffe born: about 1805 in Ireland; died: 1892 in Hyde Park, Massachusetts; married: Mary Murphy who was also born in Ireland about 1805.
