Can anyone help me locate records for my McCarren ancestors ?

My great granfather, James McCarron, was married to Catharine Quail in  Newtownbutler Fermanagh, registered in Clones June 3rd1877. James fathers name is Eugene McCarron according to the marriage Reg. I cannot find any records for him. Ive been on several genealogy sites, Ive also searched Irishgenealogy.ie and have been searching through the microfilms available on the NLI web site. I hope to find any records for James siblingsand his mothers name

Any help is much appreciated

  • James was working as a farm servant so he may have moved about to take advantage of available work. Most did and it makes them hard to trace. His townland/address at the time of his marriage appears to be Bohasset but that may not be where he came from. I searched the tithe applotment records for any Eugene McCarrons in that area. (Farmers didn’t move about much, and were normally listed in the tithes). The nearest I can see were Owen McCarron in Sessiagh, in the parish of Cleenish in 1834:

There was another in Millwood, Aghalurcher in 1833:

(Owen & Eugene are interchangeable as I expect you know).

You might want to check the records for those 2 parishes to see if you can find a match for James baptism.

This looks to be your family in 1901:

  • Hello Elwyn

As I'm new to Ireland Reaching out, can you have a look at how I'm entering my ancestor information please? I have 2 binders full BMD Registrations and Census records for 8 ancestor surnames. All from 4 or 5 different counties. I've gone through my files and given names to each record. I thought I'd add them to each ancestor individually and then go back to type in any other information not included in the records. I also have newsarticles and some photos. I've done quite a bit of research to confirm each ancestor is indeed my relative.

Please let me know if there is a better way to make my entries. Hopefully someone will benefit from my records and perhaps I will find some help with my ancestors that I'm having trouble with.

    Thankyou

  • Rochelle,

Adding ancestors one by one is just fine. You can add photos and newsarticles too.
