McCarthy - Blarney Castle - As far back as I can remember our family believed we (McCarthy) are descendants of Cormac MacCarthy (McCarthy, McCarty).  Is there a record of Cormac MacCarthy descendants, or perhaps, Donough Mac Carty, the 1st Earl of Clancarty?  How do I find information on these men?  Would records be in the parishes only?

    I suggest that you contact the Local Studies Department of Kerry county Library for some advice on where you can find information on the McCarthy?s. Here is their webpage:
