My ancestors lived in Kilfree, up until about 1858. Family lived in Gortygara, in a place called Lissaseeny( Lissasheenagh) Especially interested in learning more about raths at that location. By early 1800's , lived in Calteraun, then Bunninadden. My gr-gr grandfather Thomas was repoertedly buried at Carrowntemple- but have not been able to locate a record (between 1850-58).

Hello - Co. Sligo has a rich cache of ancient sites including raths/ring forts. I looked at the following which may be a beginning help - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_National_Monuments_in_County_Sligo and https://www.townlands.ie/sligo/tirerrill/ballynakill/ballynakill/lissan… -- and then a bunch of pictures on this site https://duckduckgo.com/?q=raths+and+ring+forts+in+co+sligo&t=hk&iax=ima…. and check this booklet out at https://www.archaeology.ie/sites/default/files/d7_files/media/publicati…. I would also recommend checking out the premier site of the Ordnance SUrvery of Ireland at https://www.osi.ie. - you can plug into its maps and explore the area. There is also https://www.archaeology.ie/archaeological-survey-database which is pretty cool. When you get the chance to go over you'll be amazed. Happy hunting. Steve Lemken
