HI all,
my family name is McIntyre and we have traced my great great great grandfather back to Dublin and also Roscommon (the latter was from a census document). He left Dublin to come to Australia in 1836. We don't know much else about him.
i am hoping through these boards i can discover more.

Welcome to the site.
Do you have a first name for your g g grandfather & an approximate birth year (from age at arrival in 1836 or age at death & death year)?
Also, do you happen to know if he was C of I or R C?
These will help to narrow the search

James McIntyre (sometimes spelt MCEntire).
County - Roscommon
Parish - Ballyhobert
Census 1824

Hi Julie,
First name is a help but no birth/baptism records for James McIntyre or McEntire in Roscommon I'm afraid
The closest Irish Census to 1824 is 1821 & it doesn't have Roscommon records so I'm curious about your census info
Do you know which state in Australia he arrived at in 1836?
