Hi Richard, I see 14 James McKeown or similiar in Louth 1868 plus or minus 5 years and the 2 in 1868 are close to Dromiskin, Haggardstown oddly there appear to be no civil records commenced in 1864. Do you have any clue as to parents names even Christian names to narrow the search.
You can search civil records for free here but sign in, https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ click civil as the church records for Louth are not on it

Hi Mary,
I think I located his birth certificate as I do have his American marriage certicate, and I have attached the file to this message. He is listed as John on his marriage cert, but I guess that was common for them to use different first named or even use their middlename as their first names. I would be delighted to see a picture of him - I can't believe how well this message board has worked. I am in Upstate NY, a little north of the Ithaca area. Have you taken the Ancestry DNA test by any chance?
Thank you for responding.

Hi Folks, glad you found each other, about 18 months ago a lady from the US was here and I took her to Dromiskin, I am attaching two photos of the old church and graveyard, (RC) in case you would like to see it. The roof is falling in, there is a new church nearby and the name she was researching was Ginnitty.
Good Luck
