I am trying to trace the mckinn side of my family, but have hit a brick wall
My GGgrandad Robert Herbert was in the 14th regiment & was based at the curragh from 1871 he married an irish girl called Maria Mckinn in 1878, i have a copy of the marriage certificate from ballysax church & it says she also lived at Curragh Camp at the time of marriage & i cant work out why, at first i thought maybe her father was also in the army, but her father who according to the marriage certificate was Charles Mckinn who was a servant.
I can not trace any birth reg. anywhere for maria mckinn (b.1859) or her father Charles Mckinn or any marriage details for him
I do know maria mckinn & my GGgrandad travelled to the east indies etc, yorkshire & had children in numerous places then back to surrey where my grandad was born & finished his army career & on all census' from 1891 it is stated that she was born in ireland in 1859.
Any help in resolving these mysteries would be appreciated

Hi miriam,
Thanks for the info
my GGgrandad had on his military records he was based at curragh & cork, so maybe Maria Mckinn came from there, altho she did say on a much later census that she was born in dublin city & then on the next census south dublin.
As someone pointed out to me that the marriage certificate said church of ireland, so she was not catholic which could mean the records of her birth in 1859 are gone, so unfortunately i dont think there are many avenues left.
I have tried different spellings for mckinn but will try mcginn now too.
