Looking for more information about my maternal great grandparents. Both born around Carndonagh mid-1860s?. Michael's father is Neal McCallion; Anna's parents are Robert and Jane Ann McLaughlin (nee Foster). Michael and Anna were married on March 24 1882. Children that i am aware of include Bridget, Michael and Maggie (my grandmother). The 1901 census has the three children living with Neal McCallion but no mention anywhere of Michael and Anna, their parents....that's where i am stuck. Hope someone can help.

It appears they also had a daughter Rose Anne in 1894. See transcription of church baptismal record below from the subscription site Roots Ireland. I also located the 1882 marriage record for Michael and Anne and Neil's 1904 death record. I wonder if Michael and Anne went to Scotland or England and took Rose Anne and then when Neil died the other children came over?

Thank you for such a quick reply. I do believe they had Rose Anne (my mother was named after her) but she died around 1916. Michael and Maggie emigrated to America around 1903-1906 and stayed. My thinking is something might have happened to their parents to take such drastic (to me) action. That doesn't explain where Rose Ann lived. My grandmother Maggie's 1937 NY obituary shows she had two other brothers (John and Robert) as well as two other sisters (Anna and Mary) so i am totally confused!

Roger, you were right! I happened upon the 1900 New York State census and matched my entire family to my grandmother's obituary. Bridget, Michael and Margaret were born in Ireland, and John, Robert, Mary and Ann were all born in New York. It appears there were several ocean crossings between 1903 and 1909. Michael, my grandfather, appears to have emigrated in 1886 and my grandmother Ann in 1887.
