My first post although been lurking for a while ;-)
I wonder if any one can provide further info on parents of the two persons named above. My 2x great grand parents. I know they were married on the 4th feb 1860 In Croagh and their residence is Clough I believe in Co. Limerick. Agnes has a sister called Bridget. I would think their DOB's would be around 1835 +- . I have run up against a wall pretty much so any help would be greatly appreciated. My family originate from Rathkeale, Croagh and surrounding areas.
Many Thanks
John Lenihan

John:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The Croagh RC records start in August 1836 https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0880 I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a baptismal record for Michael so likely he was born and baptized prior to 1836. I did find a likely baptismal record in 1839 in Croagh for Agnes Christy. Did Michael have any younger siblings?

Thanks for the welcome Roger,
That looks like a possiblity for Agnes for sure. Thanks I will take a look. That is the only information I have on Michael I'm afraid. I didnt realise that the baptism records only started around that time. So how do we trace births prior to that.? Many Thanks
John

There are no other sources other than existing parish records.

Hi John Lenihan,
I am from Sydney Australia and I have a Michael Lenihan and an Agnes Christie in my direct ancestry .
If they are the same people Michael would be my great great grandfather.
Married in 1860 in Crough . I am a bit vague about Irish geography
Does this match in with what you have

Kerrie, For some reason I have only just recieved notification of your message!
Yes that information fits with mine. Spellings vary for the surnames. Although there arnt too many Lenihans or Christies from what I have seen. Michael and Agnes are also my GG grand parents.
Croagh is in Limerick, south western Ireland.
Do you have a tree on Ancestry?
Thanks for your reply sorry I only just recieved it!!

Hi John
I don't much about them but I am related to them through their daughter Emily who immigrated to Melbourne and I have her marriage certificate from 1896 which lists Michael as a farmer
My email is frolley@hotmail.com
