Michaelis (Michael) and Johannae (Jane)  Roche are my  great great great grandparents.  I know that 3 of their daughters Jane (my great great grandmother)  Rosanna and Mary came to Australia in the mid 1850's or there abouts.  We have been able to find the baptismal record of Rosanna in Roscommon (4 June 1835) but not Jane's or Mary's.  The records I have, suggest that Jane was born in Offaly around 1842 and Mary may have been born in Tipperary.

Michael was a soldier in the 1st Royals.  I have not been able to verify who the 1st Royals were or their origns and I have absolutely no information of Michael.

Jane (Michael's wife) was a Malonne/Maloney but that is all I know about her.  It would appear that being a soldier Michael may have moved around.

Can you help me with this.  I have been searching for Jane's birth record for almost 35 years with no success.

Thank you for getting back to me so promptly. Unfortuneately there is no mention of a Parish regarding any of the Roche girls.  However, on searching through my records Rosanna Roche's marriage certificate states she was born in Kings County although her baptismal record shows Althone, Roscommon.  Roseanna married Thomas Sullivan on 4 August 1856 in Geelong Victoria Aust. occupation Miliner. Thomas Sullivan's father was also a soldier.  Rosanna came to Australia as an assisted immigrant before Jane and Mary.  She arrived in Geelong on the ship "Agincourt" in Feb 1854, birth place Kings County.

Jane married Vincenzo Cocciardi on 27 December 1866 in Blackwood, Victoria.  This was during the gold rush days of Victoria.  On the marriage certificate her birth place is Kings County, occuaption dressmaker, aged 24 years, father soldier.  However before her marriage she gave birth to a son Thomas on 21 Feb 1863 at Deneliquin, New South Wales.  She was staying with her sister Roseanna..  She was aged 22 years and again his birth certificate states Jane was born in Kings County.

Jane and Marry arrived in Melbourne on the ship "Empress Eugene"  from Liverpool, England on 3 April 1858.  Jane was aged 18 years and Mary 20 Years.  On arrival they stayed with their sister Rosanna Sullivan nee Roache at Little Bourke Street, Melbourne, Victoria.  Little Bourke street is now a very narrow street in the centre of Melbourne City.

The only reason I think Mary was born in Tipperary is becasue I found a reference to a Mary Roach dying in Melbourne and the record indicated she was born in Tipperary.  Mary Roche seemed to have disappeared off the planet after arriving in Melbourne.  This got me thinking she had died shortly after arrival.  This is something I need to follow up.

I am afraid this is all I have on the girls.
