Hi there:
It has been quite a while since I've checked this surname and area.
I have a MACKEY, Richard b. 1818 (just a guess) POSSIBLY in Poulrone, Mooncoin. I did see an NIL image but I'm not sure it's him. I tried looking for death records and grave info but nothing.
He married Mary CARROLL (I think) and married around 1838-ish. If the child they had in Kilkenny was their first.
I did find birth info on rootsireland.ie for William Mackey (my ancestor born in Kilkenny and these are his parents). But...instead of Mary Carroll, it has Bridget - which may or may not be an error. Mary is from information on William's Civil War papers and may not be correct.
Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and found an 1824 marriage record in Mooncoin RC parish for Richard Mackey and Anastasia Carroll both from Poulrone. I then found nine baptismal reocrds from December 1824 to 1843 where the father was Richard and the mother Bridget Carroll including the 1835 William record that you mentioned in your message. I think Anastasia and Bridget were the same person. The children were Anastasia 1824 John 1825 Edmund 1828 Michael 1831 Mary 1834 William 1835 Margaret 1838 Elizabeth 1842 Richard 1843.

Hi Roger:
I did see this too but I'm not confident making the leap that Anastatia/Bridget and Mary (name on civil war papers) are the same person. Would Anastatia and Bridget be used interchangeably?
This Mackey line is my brick wall - for some 20 yrs.
Thank you for the information.

I can find no info that shows a connection between Anastasia and Bridget.
