Just discovered that my great grandfather was Edward Henry O'Rourke not Albert who was another family member. He/they left Ireland , I don't know where from, in 1885  and came to live in Kentish Town north London. My grandfather Herbert Arthur O'Rourke was born   either in London or Ireland around that time. There is no birth record for him in either place. He married my grandmother in London on 11th September 1909. Herbert joined the Royal Irish Rifles, 15th Bt, and died on 22 November 1917 aged 32, in France.

That's about all I know. Any further help would be most appreciated

  • I searched for Herbert O'Rourke on rootsireland and found the following 1877 baptism of a Herbert "Rokie" in Sligo. However, this Herbert's father was Robert, not Edward.
