  • Hello Lorraine,

Firstly, a great place to start (depending on the DOBs/era) is www.irishgenealogy.ie where civil birth, marriage and death certs are available from 1864-1911. Also on this site is the parish records of baptisms/marriages which may be of help. Further collections of parish records are also available on NLI.ie.

What information are you looking for exactly? The local studies at the Carlow County Library is always a great go-to-point: http://www.carlowlibraries.ie/explore/local-studies.

The Kildare/Leighin diocese's archives may be of use as well and their records are held in the Delany Archives at Carlow College: https://www.carlowcollege.ie/study-with-us/college-life/pj-brophy-library/.

The Census returns might be useful (again depending on your dates). 1901 and 1911 are the most intact collection: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

I hope some of this proves useful, but do get back to us if you require any specific information.

    All the best,

    Judy
