I'm looking for some help in trying to find the parents of my great great grandfather, Patrick Murphy. I know from his marriage record that his father was Martin Murphy, listed as deceased on Pat's marriage in Aug 1871.
According to the records I do have, RIC and DMP records. Patrick was born abt 1846, he was 20 yrs old entering the RIC, it states that he was Catholic and born in Wexford.
The DMP stated born Wexford, Rossminogue, post town Camolin.
I found a record for a Martin Murphy valuation 1845. Event place : Rossminogue, Gorey,Wexford,Ireland
Town land: Island Lower.
My question is, What Catholic parishes would you suggest that I search for Baptismal records if that is Patrick's father? I don't have his mothers name.
Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

Island Lower and the civil parish of Rossminogue are in the RC parish of Camolin. Unfortunately their baptism records don’t start till 1853.

It usually means they weren't keeping records. (That was common in the early 1800s). Or there may have been some earlier records that have been lost.

It's a good research, I can't even imagine, how much time was spent to it. When I was writing my research paper, I couldn't spend so much time, so I decided to order it. It's so nice that you are trying to find so far friends of your grandfather. I really would like to know if your idea will have success.
